Vengaya Chutney

Ingredients:

  • Split urad dal - 1 tsp

  • Onions - 2 medium (roughly chopped)

  • Tomatoes - 1 (optional)

  • Dry red chillies - 2

  • Tamarind paste - 1 tsp

  • Salt - to taste

  • Oil - 2 tbsp

**Method: ** In a pan, heat little oil and add the urad dal. When it turns a slight brown, add the onions and red chillies and saute for a while.? Then add tomatoes and fry for a minute. Remove from heat. Allow to cool. Grind the mixture in a blender with salt and some water. Consistency is usually as a thicker paste. Goes well with idlis and dosas.
